5. Red Areola

When the areola turns red, it could mean that a rare form of cancer is developing in the breast. This disease is called Paget’s disease of the nipple. In this form of cancer, the cancer cells accumulate around the nipple, causing the redness and swelling to occur. The nipple may also become irritated as Paget’s disease develops.
